Japan is one of the original countries featured when the World Showcase first opened in 1982.  The pavilion is set up like a courtyard with buildings bordering it on all three sides.  A large five-story pagoda greets patrons as they enter, and you can often catch the Matsuriza performing an amazing show featuring drums at varying times during the day.
